Al parecer este cartucho fue creado hacia 2009 por el sudafricano Otto Planyavsky, más conocido por fabricar cartuchos raros y descatalogados para coleccionistas. Este calibre es uno mas de la serie Express 3″ de OPM. Otros son el .470, .458, .423 y .416 Express
